Preparing for Ohio's New State Tests Workshop
TCESC will conduct workshops to help districts prepare for Ohio's new state tests. Two workshops will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 -- 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 to 3 p.m.. The workshops will be targeted toward district teams comprised of superintendents, principals, guidance counselors, technology coordinators, test coordinators and lead test administrators. District teams should plan to attend the same session. Registration is available here.
RESA Results from 2013-2014 are available
Resident educators who took the RESA in 2013-2014 have received an email notice from Teachscape indicating they can view their score reports.  Individuals who did not receive a passing score on all tasks will need to retake the tasks this spring. Complete information about RESA retakes is available on the OhioRESA.com website.  The RESA FAQs also provide some valuable information. ODE recommends that candidates who are retaking tasks and whose licenses will expire in June 2015 request a one-year extension of their resident educator licenses. Score reports for tasks being retaken will not be available until after their current licenses expire in June 2015. Information about requesting an extension is available here.
TCESC preschool classrooms receive five-star Step Up to Quality Rating

The two TCESC preschool classrooms at LaBrae Bascom Elementary received a 5-Star Quality Rating as part of Ohio’s preschool quality initiative called Step Up To Quality. The classrooms, taught by teachers Kristina Locy and Karen Cunningham as well as classroom assistants Kimberly Welch and Tammi Jones, were the first TCESC classrooms to be inspected for the rating. They were also two of a few local preschool classrooms to receive the five star rating.  Other TCESC classrooms will be inspected within the next two years.

Step Up to Quality is Ohio’s quality rating and improvement system for licensed early care and education programs. The program recognizes learning and development programs that exceed licensing health and safety standards. It is an intensive process that is designed to ensure quality preschool education in the state of Ohio.   The Ohio Departments of Education and Job and Family Services implemented the revised 5–Star Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) last fall.

TCESC seeks new substitutes
TCESC operates 43 cooperative special education classrooms throughout Trumbull County. We are always seeking substitute teachers and substitute aides to work in these classrooms. Individuals who are interested in substituting should begin the process of applying for a license and completing requirements as soon as possible to begin substituting early in the school year.  If you are interested in substituting in a TCESC classroom, please click here to access information about becoming a substitute teacher or substitute aide.
