Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course Available for Pupil Activity Permits

Individuals holding an ODE Pupil Activity Permit are now required to complete a sudden cardiac arrest course each year. Completion of the course must be must be documented in each school district. Each year, coaches must review the Ohio Department of Health's new video and related fact sheet. Although districts may choose how they will verify completion, the Department encourages use of its Learning Management System (LMS). Access LMS through individual SAFE accounts. On the LMS homepage at top right, select the Course Catalog. Then search for sudden cardiac arrest to find the course. After permit holders view the materials and pass a short test, they can earn their certificates of completion.

Individuals who are having difficulty accessing the LMS may review the video and related materials on the Ohio Department of Health website. Districts should prepare a simple form for these applicants to sign that will acknowledge their completion.

Safety & Violence Prevention Training available on TCESC website for Trumbull County educators

TCESC's Safety & Violence Prevention Course is available online. The course has recently been moved from Moodle to Schoology. The course includes additional information about cyber bullying in both the bullying module and in the teen dating violence module. This course is required for all new educators and then every five years thereafter. The course is available to educators in Trumbull County Schools at no cost. Educators will need an enrollment key to enter the course. This key has been furnished to principals who should then pass it on to teachers. TCESC will direct teachers to the building principal for the code. TCESC charges a fee for educators outside of Trumbull County wishing to take this course. For complete information, click here.
