TCESC worked with school districts on the Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy Grant. TCESC participates in Trumbull County Kindergarten Transition Fair Howland Middle School prep bowl team celebrated winning the elementary prep bowl competition. Trumbull County Superintendents visited the PIA Youngstown Campus to learn about their programs. Southington Elementary prep bowl team was recognized as the runner up of the TCESC elementary prep bowl competition. Joe Schramer makes change for a customer at the TCESC MD smoothie bar in the TCTC classroom. TCESC provided gifted professional development for teachers throughout the county. Preschool students enjoy a play break during their school day. STEAM Powered Learning students learn experiment with computer coding. Mathews High School wins prep bowl
Howland Middle School finishes first at prep bowl
High school prep bowl teams, representing 20 Trumbull County school districts, gathered at Lordstown High School to compete in TCESC's annual prep bowl competition.  Students from Mathews High Schools finished first in the academic event. Maplewood High School placed second and Howland High School finished third. In January, Howland Middle School placed first in the elementary competition while students from Southington Elementary placed second. The junior high prep bowl competition is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24.
Administrators gather for HB 410 panel discussion
Administrators gather for HB 410 panel discussion School administrators gathered at the Trumbull County Educational Service Center for a panel discussion regarding House Bill 410.  In 2016, the Ohio General Assembly passed House Bill 410, which aims to reduce excessive absences and truancy. At the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year, districts were prohibited from suspending or expelling students for missing too much school.  House Bill 410 calls on schools to develop plans that identify and reduce barriers to regular school attendance. TCESC supports Trumbull County Kindergarten Transition Fair
TCESC at Kindergarten Transition Fair
The Trumbull County Educational Service Center proudly participated in the 2018 Kindergarten Transition Fair at the Eastwood Mall on Saturday, Feb. 3. The event was open to all Trumbull County children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall of 2018.  Families were able to meet teachers, learn about the kindergarten registration process, as well as board a school bus.   
 
TCESC hosts annual leadership academy
Kirk Hamilton with the Buckeye Association of School Administrators presenting at TCESC TCESC hosted its annual leadership academy for all Trumbull County school board members and superintendents on Thursday, Feb. 8. School board ethics, conflicts of interest and the roles and responsibilities of a school board were the focus of this year's professional development, which was made possible by our featured speakers from the Buckeye Association of School Administrators and the Ennis Britton Law Firm.
TCESC hosts YSU Teacher Candidates
Teacher candidates from Youngstown State University spent a day at the Trumbull County Educational Service Center participating in professional development.  Throughout the morning, educators and social workers spoke to the teacher candidates about how to recognize and report signs of abuse in children. The teacher candidates spent the afternoon learning about educational tools and techniques from the TCESC curriculum and instruction staff.  Click here to view a news story about the training.

TCESC preschool classrooms receive five-star Step Up to Quality Rating

All TCESC preschool classrooms that have been evaluated have received a 5-Star Quality Rating as part of Ohio’s preschool quality initiative called Step Up To Quality.  Step Up to Quality is Ohio’s quality rating and improvement system for licensed early care and education programs. The program recognizes learning and development programs that exceed licensing health and safety standards. It is an intensive process that is designed to ensure quality preschool education in the state of Ohio.   

 

 

Safety & Violence Prevention Training available on TCESC website for Trumbull County educators

TCESC's Safety & Violence Prevention Course is available online. The course has recently been moved from Moodle to Schoology. The course includes additional information about cyber bullying in both the bullying module and in the teen dating violence module. This course is required for all new educators and then every five years thereafter. The course is available to educators in Trumbull County Schools at no cost. Educators will need an enrollment key to enter the course. This key has been furnished to principals who should then pass it on to teachers. TCESC will direct teachers to the building principal for the code. TCESC charges a fee for educators outside of Trumbull County wishing to take this course. For complete information, click here.
