2014 Summer of Growth

TCESC is again offering a series of academies for our 2014 Summer of Growth. These academies will support educators as they prepare students for the challenges and expectations for the 2014/15 school year. Our focus for each academy will center on applying content-specific Depth of Knowledge (DOK) to instructional tasks and assessments. 

 
K-3 Academy:  June 30-July 1

  • Content area updates/resources in core subjects
  • Infusing technology skills into the curriculum
  • Teacher collaboration
  • 3rd Grade Reading Guarantee Support 

4-8 Academy:  June 23-24

  • Content area updates/resources in core subjects
  • Infusing technology skills into the curriculum
  • Teacher collaboration
  • Value Added 

9-12 & Specialists (K-12) Academy:  June 19- 20

  • Content area updates/resources in all subjects
  • Infusing technology skills into the curriculum
  • Teacher collaboration
  • End of Course assessments 

Administrative Leadership Academy (K-12): August 6-7

  • Curriculum  support
  • OTES/OPES/eTPES
  • Scheduling for the Next Generation of Assessments
  • Data management
  • Administrative leadership collaboration 

Google Tech Academy (K-12):  June 16-17 or August 4-5

  • Google Drive for the classroom (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Presentations)
  • Google Sites for a classroom website
  • Teacher collaboration  

Special Education Academy (K-12):  June 26-27

  • Day one of this academy is the Collaborative Learning Summit 2014 at Warren G. Harding High School. Registration must be done through STARS for June 26 only. 
  • Day two of this academy is a follow-up from the Learning Summit and will be held at TCESC. Registration for day two must be done through our Summer of Growth registration process. The following areas will be addressed:

Collaborating to make instructional strategies work for all students 

Supporting the Next Generation of Assessment 

The Gifted Academy (K-12): August 6-7

  • District Local Report Cards now include data regarding the performance of students who are identified as gifted learners in superior cognitive ability, math and reading.
  • Focus on gifted identification and reports and the nature and needs of gifted leaners.
  • Teaching strategies, such as curriculum compacting, will be emphasized to help teachers increase rigor for these students

Steam Academy (K-4):  August 4-5

  • Recognition and connection of ELA, Math and Science
  • Hands on, student-centered inquiry
  • Grade-level focused content
  • Teacher collaboration
