STEM Services & Resources

TCESC's STEM division provides services that integrate technology into all curricular areas; enhance technological skills; and improve student motivation in the STEM fields.  

Services:
  • Robotics Extracurricular Competitions
    Through a grant TCESC is providing resources, mentoring, and support for both the FIRST Lego League and FIRST robotics competitions.
    • FIRST Lego League is for Grades 5 - 9.
    • FIRST Robotics Competition is for Grades 9 - 12.
  • Pro ENGINEERThe Trumbull County Educational Service Center is working with Parametric Technologies Corporation (PTC) to provide educational versions of Pro/ENGINEER software free of charge to qualifying teachers.

Defined STEM is a web-based application designed to promote effective and relevant connections between STEM classroom content and STEM career pathways, thus providing learning opportunities for students. Defined STEM provides teachers a resource where they can access highly effective media content and related support materials. These resources and materials allow teachers to connect STEM career awareness to existing lessons and standards-based curriculum.

  • Siemens Math and Science Competition(deadline October 1; $1,000-$100,000 for innovative and outstanding individual or team STEM projects)
  • Siemens STEM Academy Portaloffers a plethora of lesson plans, activities, and multimedia resources aimed at helping educators engage students through interaction and discussion, presentations, and immersive study of particular STEM topics. Academy users can search these materials by grade bracket (3-5, 6-8, 9-12) and subject. The materials can be browsed and accessed at the Teacher Resources page.
  • Siemens STEM Institutea week-long STEM immersion program that will enable 50 selected teachers to gather and engage with today's critical science thinkers and other peers across the nation and visit leading institutions to see real-world applications of STEM subject matters. In addition, the Institute also will include monthly professional development opportunities, support, and additional tools and resources designed to further inspire student achievement in STEM education.
  • Siemens Teachers A Reserachers Siemens Teachers as Researchersis a two-week residential professional development program, all expenses paid*, in which teachers will engage in mentored research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. STARs provides middle school and high school STEM teachers the opportunity to engage with top scientists and researchers on short-term research projects about current topics of national interest that are related to ongoing research at the laboratory.
