Regional Student Learning Objective (SLO) Professional Development for Specialists
The Mahoning and Trumbull County Educational Service Centers are hosting a Regional Student Learning Objective (SLO) Professional Development for Specialists.
 
At the end of the training, participants will be able to: (a) explain the components of a high-quality SLO, (b) select appropriate assessments, (c) develop growth targets, (d) collaboratively draft a sample SLO, and (e) assess the quality of sample SLOs. 
 
Graduate credit is available.  Space is limited and seats are proportional.

EVAAS Value-Added Workshop


WHAT:   This three-day workshop will provide participants with the essential understandings of EVAAS (Education Value Added Assessment System) value-added.
 
Participants will work collaboratively and individually to complete Ohio•Learn value-added learning paths. Ohio•Learn provides electronic modules that help educators better understand value-added learning. Participates will complete the electronic modules during these sessions as well as on their own.
 
WHO:       Teachers and Administrators. Space is limited.

STEAM Academy Powered by NASA

Join NASA Educator Dr. Diane McElwain as she guides you through Problem Based Learning. This week long workshop features a trip to the NASA John Glenn Research Station to meet with rocket scientists and learn how they tackle and solve problems.

Interesting, engaging, and aligned to Ohio Science Standards teachers will practice the knowledge and skills to lead students through science.

June 17-June 21, 8:00AM to 3:00PM at TCESC

Grade 3-10 Science Teachers (suggested, but no one is excluded)

Tuesday June 18 - Trip to John Glenn Research Station

2 Credit hours from Ashland

Science Workshops

The Conceptual Chemistry is a great workshop for grades 4-9. Many free materials are available. These workshops are wonderful for teachers who have limited science experience and the veteran alike. This year Conceptual Chemistry is at Kent Stark, however the workshop is rotated to Kent-Trumbull in other years.

PBS TeacherLine is a series of facilitated online courses produced by leading educators and educational institutions. They are video-rich and are project-based. Each week, learners complete an assignment, read articles and view video, and participate in online discussions. We offer graduate credit through Ashland University, Notre Dame College, and The University of Akron. Click here to register.
 
eReadOhio 

Teachers in e-Read Ohio’s online modules learn interactively in simulations, video analyses and case studies. They watch expert video, view classroom footage to observe model teaching in action and apply SBRR literacy techniques straight from the modules. They work individually, in online discussion groups, and sometimes in statewide online learning communities. Click here for more information.
