  • Creating Character Webquest "Friendship is a mighty ship... " and one that students are often almost obsessed by--lack of friends, gaining friends, new friends, etc. In this webquest--an excellent exercise for the initial days of school--students will de-fine friendship and discover resources to help them forge and strengthen their own relationships.
  • Good Character Offers free character education resources for K-12 teachers, coaches, and youth group leaders, all organized by topic and grade level. You'll find curriculum materials, discussion questions, writing assignments, group learning activities, opportunities for student action and lots of teacher support  material. This is the place to start for immediate implementation of a character development unit for any grade level. Check back frequently as this site is constantly updated.
  • Make A Difference Day Collaborate with your students to make a difference in your own community... students must look around and find possible problems to address, and then decide what they wish to do about it. They can enter the contest here, and be eligible to appear in USA Today and win a donation to a charity of their choice. Most of all however, they can take pride in their accomplishments, and learn to strengthen their own character growth. Explore the web site for project ideas and past winners.
  • Media International Documentary videos, aimed at at-risk teens, cover topics such as character education, drug abuse, cultural awareness, sex and relationships.

  • Positive Action Company Year-long lesson plans teach children cooperation through board games and activity booklets. Kits are available for K-5 students.  
  • To Fight or Not To Fight
  • Utah’s Character Education Page Although the five lessons here are geared to one individual, they can easily be adapted to fit any particular hero/biography. They will focus on heroism and community service. 
  • Whootie Owl This site features fairytales and folk tales from around the world that speaks to them of positive human behavior such as justice and kindness. The stories are fun, upbeat, kid-tested, non denominational, copyright-available and illustrated by kids. Discussion questions following each story prompt responses by kids
  • Wiseskills Find out about the character-building skills program. Provides sample materials, a list of resources and a collection of related links.
