The Trumbull County Educational Service Center (TCESC) is pleased to announce that Layton Busse of the Niles City School District has been selected as the Trumbull County recipient of the 2025 Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award. Layton will receive a $2,500 scholarship from the TCESC Governing Board in recognition of his outstanding academic achievements, leadership, and dedication to his education.
The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award is presented annually to a top student in Trumbull County who demonstrates exceptional academic performance and a commitment to excellence. Layton’s hard work and dedication have earned him this prestigious honor, and TCESC congratulates him, his family, and the Niles City School District on this achievement.
Layton will join other Franklin B. Walter award recipients from across Ohio for a special recognition luncheon on April 14, where they will be honored for their accomplishments.
The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award was established to recognize outstanding student achievement in each of Ohio’s 88 counties. The award is named in honor of Dr. Franklin B. Walter, who served as Ohio’s state superintendent from March 1977 until August 1991. Throughout his career, Dr. Walter exemplified concern for young people and dedicated his life to the improvement of education in Ohio.
In addition to Layton’s award, all other Trumbull County nominees will receive a $500 check to be used toward textbooks.
