Students in Miss Woodley’s TCESC multiple disabilities classroom at Champion Schools are making a big impact on the environment—one piece of trash at a time!

Inspired by this week’s News2You article on the Clean Earth Challenge, the class launched their own recycling initiative. After reading and discussing the article, students participated in a mini-lesson about recycling and why it’s so important to keep our planet clean.

Then, gloves on and bags in hand, the students headed outside for a hands-on cleanup mission! Each student was challenged to collect as much trash as possible during a friendly competition. The excitement and teamwork were contagious as they scoured the area, collecting litter from the school grounds.

Once the cleanup was complete, students sorted their collected items into the proper recycling bins. They even tallied each item, reaching an impressive grand total of 289 items recycled!
