You don't have to be the surgeon; you have to be the ambulance driver, find the kid who is struggling, and race them to support. This was one of the many lessons award-winning national teacher, author, and speaker Keeth Matheny aka “Coach Rudy,” had for over 125 TCESC educators Monday at the TCESC professional development day at the Grand Resort in Warren. Matheny, a former classroom teacher of over 25 years, provides best practices for developing strong Social Emotional Learning programs and trains teachers to teach SEL skills in engaging and effective ways.
Monday’s session included various hands-on activities on teaching to take a timeout, not make irrational decisions, and not “flip our lids.”
The group of Preschool, MD, and ED teachers continued the professional learning day sessions with legal updates and department meetings.
