Conflicts with resident educator meetings and events are inevitable. TCESC has put forth the following guidelines regarding absences:
- Resident educators and mentors will be excused if the program coordinator reports it as an excused absence. (Excused absences should be school-related such as coaching, etc.) The program coordinator can email the names of the individuals who are excused. The program coordinator can make arrangements to meet with the resident educator or mentor to cover any information that was presented at the meeting.
- TCESC will report to the district superintendent the names of resident educators who have successfully completed the TCESC program. These will be individuals who attended the required meetings or had an excused absence and who successfully completed the required blogging components. If a resident educator does not attend a meeting or does not blog, TCESC will report to the district superintendent that the RE did not completed the requirements of the TCESC program.
- Mentors will receive professional development contact hours for their participation in the program. If a mentor is absent from a meeting, the mentor will not receive contact hours for that time. TCESC cannot issue contact hours if the individual is not in attendance. New mentors who are required to blog will receive contact hours for the blogging as well.
