PRESCHOOL DEAF EDUCATION SERVICES
  • TCESC's preschool program specializes in early childhood development of deaf and hard of hearing children. It features programs and services to meet the needs of each child's Individualized Education Plan.
  • The preschool program may serve children, both with and without hearing disabilities, between 3 and 5 years old. Class size is limited to 12 preschoolers.
  • TCESC's deaf education preschool teacher is licensed in Deaf Education and Early Childhood Intervention. An educational assistant provides support within the instructional setting.
  • Students receive 20 hours per week of early childhood instruction. This includes instruction in the usage of American Sign Language and English.
  • The program's curriculum provides a foundation for kindergarten readiness. Learning centers within the classroom provide an emphasis on early literacy.
  • Speech language pathology is provided according to each students' Individualized Education Plan.
  • Audiological equipment and services, including adaptive equipment such at TTY, closed caption TV and FM listening systems, are available to all students in the program.
  • The program provides home visits as well as transition planning to kindergarten.
  • TCESC's program is licensed by Ohio's Office of Early Childhood Education and has been recognized for its full compliance with state requirements.
