Superintendent Michael Hanshaw Retirement

After 40 years in education, including the past 15 as Superintendent of the Trumbull County Educational Service Center, the time has come for me to announce my retirement. This decision comes with a deep sense of gratitude for the incredible journey I have been privileged to take alongside so many dedicated educators and leaders.

My career began at Weathersfield Local Schools. I was fortunate to serve in multiple roles—starting as an English teacher before transitioning to the guidance counselor, athletic director, high school principal, and superintendent. In 2009, I was given the tremendous opportunity to step into the role of Superintendent of TCESC, a position that has truly been the honor of my career.

Over the years, I have taken great pride in seeing TCESC recognized annually as a high-performing ESC, a testament to the commitment and excellence of our entire organization. I am incredibly proud of the many student programs that have been added during my tenure, ensuring that Trumbull County students continue to receive the highest quality educational experiences.

I want to express my deepest appreciation to our Governing Board, district leaders, and administrative team for your support and collaboration over the years. Working together, we have made a lasting impact on education in Trumbull County. Most of all, I am grateful for the incredible staff at TCESC, who work tirelessly every day to serve our students. Your dedication and passion do not go unnoticed, and I cannot thank you enough for all you do.

As I prepare for this next chapter, I do so with immense gratitude for the relationships, experiences, and memories that have shaped my career. I look forward to seeing the continued success of TCESC and the bright future ahead for Trumbull County schools.
