STEAM Explore is designed to give 3rd and 4th graders an opportunity to explore and discover their creative abilities. The program serves students from 19 school districts. Using an integrated approach to teaching, STEAM Explore students will benefit from instruction in visual art, drama and computer coding and design challenges. Instructors teach students in groups of 20 for 3 school day sessions (8:30 - 1:30). Interested students receive information through their school.
Applications are mailed to the Trumbull County ESC where students are then accepted on a first come-first served basis.
This is not a repeat program. If you attended STEAM Explore last year, please do not reapply.
In order to accommodate as many students as possible, we are offering two sessions:
Session #1 is on October 11, 18 & 25, 2016
Session #2 is on October 13, 20 & 27, 2016
Confirmations and dates of attendance will be mailed on October 3rd. No subsequent reminders are sent.
We advise loose, comfortable clothing (no skirts or dresses). Clothing may become stained or soiled due to floor work and art materials.
Students will need to bring his/her own lunch and drink. There are no cafeteria services or vending machines available to students.
Students will receive one full day’s instruction in each of the curriculum areas. All instruction takes place at the Niles Administration Building, 309 N. Rhodes Ave., Niles, OH 44446.
STEAM Explore instructional fee is $50 payable by check or money order received by September 26, 2016. The fee must accompany the registration form that is attached with this flyer. No refunds are given; however, if your application is received after the class is filled, your check will be returned to you.
Transportation to STEAM Explore is arranged by the individual school districts. Parents should contact the building principal for details. Students generally ride their district high school bus to and from TCTC in Champion where a Niles school bus provides shuttle service to STEAM Explore. Parents may transport their child to and from the program, if they prefer. When school is not in session due to conference or snow days, transportation becomes the parent’s responsibility.
